Resource Centers

African American

The African American Resource Center is the only one of its kind in Oklahoma. Its purpose is to collect, preserve and provide access to resources honoring and documenting the experiences of people of African descent. The Center has reference materials, musical history, viewing stations, exhibits, teacher materials, and various programming like the all black town tour, Sankofa author award, and the heritage bowl.


The Hispanic Resource Center was established in 1999 to provide library service to the Spanish-speaking community and to serve as a resource for those in the larger community seeking information about the history and culture of Latinos and Latin America. The Hispanic Resource Center provides translation services and community outreach, materials in Spanish, materials about Hispanic culture and history, bilingual programs for children, meet and greets with Latino authors, teacher materials, and much more.

American Indian

The American Indian Resource Center provides cultural, educational and informational resources, activities and services honoring American Indian heritage. The center provides access to more than 4,000 books, periodicals, and media for adults and children by and about American Indians, including historical and rare materials, new releases, videos and music. The Resource Center also has the Indian Writers Award, the Indian Circle of Honor, The Festival of Words, and various programs during the Library’s Summer Reading Program.

Asian American

The Tulsa Library Trust hosts an annual Asian-American Festival during the Library’s Summer Reading Program. This free event has several Asian-American demonstrations such as martial arts, traditional dance, drumming, and more.


The Genealogy Center of the Tulsa City-County Library is one of the largest genealogy collections in Oklahoma. This collection focuses not only on Tulsa and Oklahoma but provides additional sources covering many areas, primarily Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. The collection consists of books, microfilm, microfiche, CD-ROMs, maps, and access to online research services. The Tulsa Library Trust also provides special presentations from prominent Genealogy speakers and authors throughout the year.
